Guests at brunch in the pink and emerald dining room

Woods Cross, Utah, since August 2022

Our story

Food brings people together. We built a room worth gathering in.

A European café, ten minutes from downtown

Plated Dreams is owned and run by Angie and Chris Amundsen. For years they collected favorite cafés across Europe, the kind where a coffee turns into an afternoon. When the last unit in their Woods Cross development came open, Angie decided not to lease it to someone else's restaurant. She'd open her own.

The doors opened in August 2022 with a short menu, a long wish list and a room that looked like nothing else along Highway 89: chandeliers hung from a deep green ceiling, three arched walls of silk roses lit with neon script, dusty-pink booths, emerald velvet chairs and a pastry counter cut from pink marble.

The food caught up fast. Benedicts, a croque madame that became the signature, pink velvet pancakes, a wagyu burger and a smash burger that wears an edible dollar bill. Coffee from Idle Hands Roasting Co. in Salt Lake. A full bar, the first in Woods Cross City, pouring spritzes and espresso martinis from late morning. Two OpenTable Diners' Choice awards later, the wish list is shorter.

Everything is made to order, so it takes a minute. We think that's the point.

The space

Built to be photographed

Angie designed every corner. Here are the ones guests ask about most.

The Sweet dreams are made of this flower-wall arch
Pink marble pastry counter
The black and white butterfly terrazzo floor
Macarons
Violet butterfly pea cocktail
The pink phone booth behind a long celebration table
Emerald chairs and brass pendant lights
Friends toasting at the flower wall

The flower walls

Three arches of silk roses and peonies, each with its own neon line. They're the most-tagged spot in Davis County, and they're yours for a photo any time.

The phone booth

A pink London booth filled with flowers. Step in, close the door, take the picture. It gets re-dressed for the holidays.

The pastry case

A pink marble counter with macarons, cakesicles, crème brûlée and layer cakes, many from Fillings & Emulsions in Salt Lake City. Take a box home.
